In the past, people hear about news through traditional news media. But traditional news media have been turned on the gatekeeping mode, the news may not release in the original way but an edited version. The public is no longer know is it right or wrong, they can only know about the one-sided story which is released by the publisher.

Time flies and Twitter appear. Twitter started to change people the way they live which can know more news around them or even the world. For each tweet, Twitter only allows the user to included 140-character. This 140-character did change people lives. They can extend their social network by sending the tweet to their followers. Anyone can know your thought without asking you, everyone can try to know more about you.

Twitter is real-time that people no need to wait for the publisher to publish the news like the old ways. The important part is people can know the both-sided story which is not edited by the publisher. The user can tweet any news in real-time to let the public know what is happening now. They can also use the hashtag like #hackedu, people can search this hashtag to know the recent post/conversation that posted in the past few weeks.

Nowadays, through the freedom of information flow, people can access social media easily. Besides Twitter, we have Facebook, Instagram more and more social platform for the public to share their opinion and story. It may all base on Twitter’s trend, unlike the traditional news media, it is all real-time and different side of the story, people can choose the side by themselves.
